As I was strolling about the garden, camera in hand, I was captivated by the wide variety of blooms on the Gaillardias in the corner bed.
The genus was classified by 18th century Frenchman, Auguste Denis Fougeroux de Bondaroy. He chose to name it Gaillardia after Gaillard de Charentonneau, a wealthy French magistrate and patron of botany.
Common names include Blanket Flower and Mexican Blanket.
It's a good thing these plants are tough: summer has arrived here on my corner of Katy and I fear it's shaping up to be a repeat of last year, hot and painfully dry.
At 8:00 p.m., the temperature is 84 degrees. I wish I could handle it as bravely as these flowers!

I saw where you are having summer heat already. My sympathies go out to you. I turned on the air here for a while this weekend-can't take the high humidity here. :)
MT, I think the Gaillardias bloom off & on throughout the summer but I won't swear to it.
