Through the Garden Gate: March 16, 2009

This is the first of what I hope will be many Monday morning posts
sharing the views through my garden gate.
Spring is my favorite time in this part of the garden.

OK, this one wasn't taken through the gate but it's such a good picture that I must beg your indulgence. This is Annie, the Garden Terrierist.

I love the view through your gate! I think we often see individual plants and seeing the big picture gives a nice sense of place. And the last photo is too cute! I miss my garden assistant.

I love your pictures and I also have a garden terrierist(-:
I sure did enjoy my stroll through your garden gate! You really have lots blooming! And what a cute little garden helper you have!
What is the purple? Almost looks like verbena..

Your garden is beautiful, especially your assistant.

Where can one procure such a lovely gardening assistant as your own? Yours seems to thrive despite the Texas heat.

Leslie, sometimes I just stand at the gate and marvel at how beautiful it all looks. Other times not so much!

Cindee, give your terrierist a scratch behind the ears from me and tell her Annie says Woof!

MT, there are purple Laura Bush Petunias and various shades of purple verbena, as well as some spiderwort, in all of the pictures.

Nancy, if I could just train my assistant to fetch as well as be fetching ...

Dr. Laura, I believe readers should know that you're the reason I have such a delightful assistant in the garden! Dr. Laura (the GOOD Dr. Laura) is my wonderful sister, who foster parented with a rescue group in Austin back in 2003. She's the one who spotted Annie and knew right away that Annie was destined for my family.

OMG - your garden is amazing and *so* alive. I feel like it is summer already when I stroll through your pictures. Things are a little slower here in Zone 7/Seattle area. Love your blog and I plan to follow. have a great day!

How I love dogs! Don't know what we'd do without their unconditional love!

There's something magic about coming in a gardener's gate, isn't there, Cindy? It would be even better to be physically present, but seeing the photos from that vantage point is almost as good!

Annie (not a terrierist, but perhaps a Terra-ist at the Transplantable Rose)

And such a cute terrierist it is! I love peeking through your gate, I hope you continue to let me see it as it changes over the seasons. Looks like sping has definitely arrived!

Mindy, I have a good friend who lives on Bainbridge Island ... the Seattle area is one of my favorite places to visit!

Brenda, someday I need to tell the story of how Annie came to us. She has been a wonderful addition to our family.

Annie, any time you're coming through the Houston area, you are welcome to visit!

Gail, I am very happy with the job my builder did on the new fence and gate. I still can't believe the old one didn't budge even a fraction of an inch during the hurricane!

Grounded, I've put a reminder to myself in my Google calendar to take pictures on Monday mornings. I hope to share many more views with y'all!

Cindy, Poppies are of my all-time favorites. Your pictures are a breath of fresh air. The chair and white tulips look so inviting. Hope to get some dirt under my nails this weekend!

Mindy, I was way late sowing seeds for red opie-m poppies so they probably won't make it to bloom size before the heat gets them. Ah, well, next year.

Linda, we had a Yorkshire terrierist prior to Annie. Nala was more of a lie about the garden and look pretty kind of assistant!
