Someday they'll come along,
The plants I love
And they'll be green and strong
The plants I love
And when they come my way
I'll do my best to make them stay.
Maybe I will meet them Sunday,
Maybe Monday -- maybe not;
Still I'm sure to meet them one day--
Maybe Tuesday
Will be my good news day.
And it was! Dianthus 'Firewitch' had three of these bright pink blooms and buds are forming for more.The plants I love
And they'll be green and strong
The plants I love
And when they come my way
I'll do my best to make them stay.
Y'all know how I've been bemoaning the lack of color on my corner of Katy and what it means for the gardens in spring ... Or perhaps I should say the lack of desirable color since brown, tan, gray and black do qualify as colors. (The Head Gardener says not in her book, not in the garden. I asked her if that means we should do away with Carex 'Toffee Twist', since it's brown. She harumphed at me and flounced off into the other room.)
...Maybe I will meet them Sunday,
Maybe Monday -- maybe not;
True, I did bring some home on Sunday and posted about them on Monday but as new residents, the Cineraria and the Flowering Quince don't really count.
Maybe Tuesday
Will be my good news day.
There are blooms opening on one of the Toadflax (Linaria maroccana)!
And the Scabiosa has one bud that's just beginning to show signs of color ... look at those wonderful violet-pink hairs against that pale spring green.
In the tightly furled bud of the creamy white of Narcissus 'Erlicheer', you can see a tiny hint of golden-orange.
My heart is singing a quiet little song tonight despite the predicted temperatures in the low 30s. Spring is coming!
And so all else above,
I'm waiting for the plants I love.
I'm waiting for the plants I love.
